Senior Research Analyst - FEMA Grants

Do you enjoy analyzing data? Are you interested in public service? The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Division of Behavioral Health has an opening for a Research Analyst, Senior in Boise. This position is in the Division of Behavioral Health working on the FEMA Idaho Office of Emergency Management federal grants in response to COVID-19. The Research Analyst, Senior will work as part of a team using statistical and related software to analyze and report upon data related to the grants.

The ideal candidate is task oriented and has excellent initiative, a positive attitude, good communication skills, and works well both in a team and independently. Specialized training will be provided. This position reports to the Human Services Project Manager/Program Director.

Example of Duties

  • Designs, writes, and/or modifies computer applications and programs to analyze data
  • Subject matter expert on CCP research methodology, procedures and tools for data collection and trains staff on data collection forms
  • Develops sampling and quality control techniques and selects sample
  • Writes, designs, and modifies computer applications, rograms and/or databases to perform data analysis
  • Identifies erroneous or questionable data and contacts providers to verify and correct
  • Reviews and updates data ensuring output is consistent with study
  • Analyzes data and interprets trends and results of studies and develops conclusions
  • Compiles and disseminates results in formats appropriate to various users and makes oral presentations of findings
  • Uses SAS, Tableau, and R to analyze behavioral health data
  • Uses ArcGIS mapping software to analyze geospatial data
  • Uses SSRS and SQL to create accurate datasets from multiple data sources
  • Drafts and conducts surveys for internal and external department use
  • Collects quarterly and annual trend and outcome data for federal reporting on program outcomes
  • Drafts reports of findings into written, narrative, graphic, and tabular form

Minimum Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of research methods
  • Good knowledge of principles of statistics
  • Good knowledge of sampling theory and probability theory
  • Experience writing analytical (research) reports or materials
  • Experience compiling and analyzing statistical data and drawing conclusions
  • Experience using statistical software or spreadsheet software to perform statistical analysis
  • Experience interpreting and communicating (orally and in writing) statistical material into information usable by a target audience
