Custodian Leadworker

In the role of Custodian Lead Worker at Taco Bell Arena you will be on the front line of facility preparation and restoration for all our commercial and local events. This position will allow you to develop highly reputable management skills in a thrilling, fast-paced environment. The major job duties include general and heavy-duty facility cleaning, scheduling & evaluating staff, managing inventory, and conducting training on safety, sanitation, and preventative maintenance. Must be a skilled decision maker and problem solver who will strive to improve the team's efficiency and success daily.

General Information

·  40 hrs/wk, paid overtime and holidays

·  Pay Range: $11.00-12.00/hr DOE

·  Flexible schedule with priority to events

·  Leadership role, managing 1 full-time & 20+ part-time staff members

·  Must have reliable transportation to and from Taco Bell Arena

·   Available to work holidays, weekends, early mornings, late nights, 14 hour shifts regularly

Example of Duties

-Perform detail cleaning of assigned areas including rooms, concourses, staircases, and seating bowls
- Schedule and perform large maintenance projects on a monthly basis
- Properly utilize performance feedback, recognition, training, and adherence to company policies, legal requirements
- Create a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction
- Assist in the preparation of the yearly budget
- Operate work truck and forklift
- Handle two-way communication with Command Post, event staff or administrative staff.
- Train and evaluate job performance of other housekeeping staff
- Operate tools and equipment associated with the trade, as well as preparing them for tasks.
- Maintain clean, safe and orderly work spaces
- Assist with smooth, efficient, cost effective operation of the department; including labor management, supervision of all aspects of services and inventory control
- Evaluate and report equipment and facility repair needs
- Lead and manage multiple cleaning teams
- Adopt all supervisor responsibilities for events with expected attendance < 3,000
-Inspect facility prior to scheduled events to ensure proper cleaning and setup

-Safety & Security – continuously work safely with an awareness that events are being targeted for destruction (keep doors locked, ensure vendors are following Visitor Policy, See Something Say Something)
- Assist Assistant Director of Housekeeping and Sustainability in leadership and management functions in the Housekeeping Department
- Effective time management and departmental efficiencies (spending, throughput, productivity, etc.)
- Assist housekeeping staff to effectively maintain facility cleanliness during events such as but not limited to; eliminating spills, maintaining restroom inventory/sanitation, general sweeping and vacuuming of high traffic areas, management of waste removal
- Place tables, chairs, turnstiles, etc. to supply event needs
- Perform post-event clean up to ready facility for next event in a timely manner
- Evaluate effectiveness of cleaning team to meet time constraints for next event
- Inspect all areas and assess cleaning and staffing needs based on facility use
- Perform related work as required

Minimum Qualifications

Good knowledge of: the methods, materials, and equipment used in heavy-duty custodial work including related safety practices; cleaning agents and related products and their possible reactions.Some knowledge of: supervisory practices; sanitation and infection control; training methods used in custodial work.Experience: operating industrial-type high-speed cleaning equipment; performing minor maintenance on custodial equipment; using hand tools to repair cleaning equipment; explaining the use and maintenance of custodial equipment.

Supplemental Information

Preferred Qualifications:  

·  2+ years of custodial experience preferred
·  1+ years of leadership/management experience preferred
