PURPOSE: This position coordinates the Testing Center in Ontario, Oregon which provides services such as placement testing, GED, external agency certification, and test proctoring.


MANDATORY: Cannot be currently taking for-credit classes at TVCC. Associate degree or two years college or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties. Excellent verbal, writing, problem-solving and organizational skills. Intermediate knowledge of word and spreadsheet programs. Able to work independently. Have knowledge of placement, assessment, and standardized testing tools.

PREFERRED: Previous experience working in a community college, preferably in student services. Previous supervisory experience. Bilingual in English-Spanish.


Oversee the scheduling and administration of the testing program, especially the oversight of all aspects of TVCC placement exams. Ensure the testing center functions properly and is secure (testing materials, faculty instructions, headphones, computer programs, etc. are on hand and working).

Proctor a variety of tests, including but not limited to: TVCC Placement exam, TVCC and other college course exams, Oregon Department of Agriculture, Oregon Building Code Division, Kryterion, Pearson Vue, Tax Preparers, and other professional exams. Maintain confidentiality and security of all testing materials, test logs, and other test documents.

Must be vigilant - able to pay close attention to cheating or prevention of cheating; able to administer Testing Center rules. Maintain a quiet atmosphere appropriate to testing.

Prepare documentation of cheating or dishonesty to assist in student discipline process.

Monitor quantity of exams and make recommendations on purchases.

Work with faculty to have the information/materials to proctor exams in a timely manner.

Make recommendations to Director on testing schedules that fit the needs of staff, faculty, students, and outside agencies.

Refer students who have need of special accommodations to Director of Disabilities, Testing and Intervention. Including but not limited to reading tests, scribing tests, or providing a special testing climate.

Enter placement scores from all TVCC’s campuses and other colleges/high schools into appropriate software.

Track the expiration date on the faculty test request form. Return tests to the appropriate party if they expire before the student takes the test.

Set up and approve distance education proctors, send out tests/instructions to proctors, and maintain records of distance education students and tests sent. Able to research and approve/disapprove distance education proposed proctors; manage confidential distribution of testing materials and passwords.

When required, pass annual testing to be a certified testing site for contracted exams.

Provide information to business office regarding invoices for colleges, agencies, government entities, and any other organization per agreement.

Produce enrollment reports as assigned; maintain backup records for TVCC placement exam and testing center usage.

Update flyers, handouts and door signs regarding the Testing Center’s hours and rules.

This is a full time, Classified, hourly position with benefits, including family medical insurance, paid leave, and Oregon retirement plan. Hourly rate of pay is $14.00.
