IEC Idaho is dedicated solely to the needs of merit-shop electrical and systems contractors. Our electrical apprenticeship program is nationally recognized and highly regarded in the Treasure Valley and across the country. As an association dedicated to fostering growth, innovation, and professionalism, we are seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our team and drive our mission forward.

Position Overview: 

As the Executive Director, you will serve as the chief executive officer of IEC, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. You will be responsible for implementing existing policies, recommending new policies, and overseeing all aspects of chapter operations, including membership development, financial management, public relations, and program coordination.

  • Applicants should be local to the Boise, Idaho area. 
  • Willingness to travel in-state occasionally. Ability to travel 1-3 trips per year for IEC National events. 
  • Self-sufficient and capable of working independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • This position is for a W2 employee position. 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Maintain contact with the general membership, other IEC Chapters, and IEC National Office.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the association.
  • Identify and address internal and external issues affecting the organization.
  • Serve as a professional advisor to the Board of Directors.
  • Foster effective teamwork between the Board, Executive Director, and staff.
  • Represent the organization at community activities to enhance its profile.
  • Oversee all IEC Chapter staff personnel including instructors.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff as appropriate.

Operations Planning and Management:

  • Administer policies and procedures for IEC Chapter functions.
  • Develop and maintain effective membership development and member services programs.
  • Ensure legal integrity and compliance of the organization.
  • Plan and coordinate board, committee, and general membership meetings.
  • Provide regular reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Facilitate annual elections for the Board of Directors and Chapter Officers.
  • Manage IEC Training Center and oversee routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Develop and maintain electronic newsletters for membership communication.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization.

Financial Planning and Management:

  • Collaborate with staff and the Board to prepare comprehensive budgets.
  • Secure funding for the organization through fundraising activities and grant writing.
  • Approve expenditures within delegated authority.
  • Ensure sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed.

Apprenticeship Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all administration and quality of the Apprenticeship Program.
  • Develop strategies to recruit and retain qualified applicants.
  • Budget for the successful operation of the program.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide support to apprentices, instructors, and contractors as needed.

Specific Tasks Include:

  • Manage apprentice inquiries, applications, and records.
  • Generate and distribute monthly apprenticeship reports.
  • Coordinate apprentice orientations and graduation ceremonies.
  • Monitor apprentice progress and address issues as needed.
  • Process tuition payments and maintain financial records.
  • Prepare marketing materials for educational programs and events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Management, or related field 
  • Minimum of 5 years of executive leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization or association management. 
  • Knowledge of the electrical contracting industry is a plus.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and fundraising.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or management role preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven track record of successful program development and implementation.
