Ensures the safety needs of the patient and the unit are metMonitors and reports equipment for appropriate corrective actionMonitors environmental safety factors and initiates appropriate corrective action BBPAttends Fire/Safety, Hazardous Chemicals (optional), CPR course, and Infection Control classesPractices infection control as outlined by Universal Blood and Body Precautions Guidelines BBP2. Participates in the educational requirements for the unitAttends and/or is responsible for all information presented at unit level (staff meetings, communication book, memos)3. Attends in-service education programs specific to providing care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or mature adult population as applicable to area of practice.4. Has knowledge of and responds to all emergency situations (Code Blue, fire, evacuation, disaster, etc.).5. Maintains appropriate PAR levels with stocks as needed (patient supplies, unit clerking supplies)6. Collects samples for lab, skin prep, vein punctures, EKG, V/S, file charts, call physician's office and faxing.Cognitive/Critical Thinking Skills Required6.
