Position Overview

The Warehouseman position is responsible for receiving and distributing inbound & outbound tires and other items within the warehouse by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides customers with knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt service, while being sensitive to their needs.
  • Prepares orders by processing requests, pulling materials, placing orders in delivery area
  • Receives all inbound freight within warehouse, unloads freight on truck and checks off orders in a timely fashion. Maintains high accuracy level in check-off procedures.
  • Reads work orders to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed. Loads trucks.
  • Uses computer software to assist with locating types of tires by manufacturer; transfers inventory to stores; closes out transfer requests and bills the appropriate location.
  • Assists with slow-moving, obsolete inventory items and reports observations to supervisor.
  • Assists with requests received from store personnel or outside customers, researches problems if necessary and responds in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains a safe, tidy, and orderly warehouse environment with inventory stored in its proper place. Helps with maintaining over-stocked areas.
  • Operates forklift daily and any other equipment if necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age

High school Diploma or GED (preferred)

Essential Physical & Environmental Functions

Physical Demands:

  • Standing: 80% | Walking: 70% | Sitting: 5%
  • Frequent stopping/bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and walking on uneven surfaces
  • Frequent lifting/carrying: up to/ over 50 lbs
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping and dexterity
  • Constant visual, auditory, and verbal communication required

Work Environment:

  • Occasional exposure to noise, dirt, dust, mechanical vibration, fumes, and outdoor conditions
  • Occasional hazards due to mechanical equipment, moving objects and roadside work

Equipment Operated:

  • Seldom use of a computer and keyboard
  • Operate DOT cars, vehicles and forklifts frequently
  • Required to use protective gear (PPE)
