Youth/Teen Outreach Leader

Looking for a job that matters? Join our afterschool recreation team as a Youth/Teen Outreach Leader and help create a welcoming, active space for teens in grades 6–12. You'll assist with games, activities, and daily program operations, serve as a positive role model, and help keep programs running smoothly in a dynamic, school-based community center. Required knowledge, experience, and training includes working knowledge of computer software such as Word and Excel as well as internet skills. Licensing and other requirements include a valid state-issued driver's license. Special requirements include passing City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation, a driving record check, and drug free workplace testing. This position is required to work directly with and oversee minors in the absence of their parent or guardian, or work directly with and oversee vulnerable adults in the absence of their caretaker or guardian.

Essential functions include ensuring the safety and well-being of all community center afterschool participants and staff, encouraging and engaging youths in a variety of indoor and outdoor group recreational activities, preparing materials and supplies for youth arts and crafts projects, making sure equipment and supplies are in good working order, and performing other duties as assigned.

Ability to interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner, display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations, communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance, complete assignments in a timely fashion, understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations, and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation. Preferred knowledge, experience, and training includes one year of experience supervising youths and teens, and current certification in First Aid/CPR.
