Campus and Event Safety/Security Officer (Boise)Position Title Campus and Event Safety/Security Officer (Boise)LocationDivision/College DFA OperationsDepartment SecurityFLSA Status Non-ExemptPay Range $20.00 per hourFull Time/Part Time Part TimeWork Schedule Summary Monday – Thursday 4:00pm-9:00pm schedule. This schedule will also include events as needed.Position SummaryThis position oversees and implements university safety and security policies to create a safe and secure environment for the university community both day-to-day and during event operations. This position also plays a key role in establishing and strengthening relationships with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders through providing exemplary customer service. May be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.ResponsibilitiesDuties may include:Conduct general security patrol on campus and at events and report emergencies to university, city or state officialsAssist with Safe Walks, extra patrol requests, building lockouts and on-call notificationsEnforce university alcohol policiesMonitor access control, check credentials, check tickets and enforce clear bag requirementsOther duties as assignedEvent-Related Safety and SecurityOperating metal detectors and executing the metal detection screening processEnforcing university alcohol policies at events, including verifying age requirements and wrist banding patronsEnforcing access control at events by checking credentials, tickets, etc.Enforcing university clear bag requirements and checking bags as necessaryConducting general security patrol at events and reporting any emergencies to the necessary university, city or state officialsProviding security services across campus as assigned including campus patrols, Safe Walks, extra patrol requests, building lockouts, on-call notifications, etc.Keeping a daily activity logReporting emergencies to the necessary university, city and state officialsAccepting additional responsibilities and assignments as directedMaking recommendations and assisting in the optimal use of university resourcesPosition QualificationsUsing computer software and applications including word-processing software, spreadsheets, email and internetWorking in a team environment to accomplish shared goalsFollowing documented policies and proceduresMust be at least 18 years oldMust be able to work a non-standard schedule to meet the needs of the departmentKnowledge of safety and security operations and best practicesOne year experience as a safety/security officerDemonstrated competence with written and verbal communicationPhysical Requirements & Working ConditionsMove around and between venues throughout the workdayCarry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 40 pounds occasionallyBend, stoop, shovel and be comfortable working at significant heightsTraverse any part of campus including asphalt, sidewalks, grass, dirt, playgrounds, etc.Sit and stand for extended periods of timeWork in inclement weather conditionsPosting InformationPosting Date: 11/26/2025Closing Date: Open Until Filled YesSpecial Instructions to ApplicantsPlease submit a current resume, and references (last 3 supervisors).Applicants who are selected as final possible candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check.EEO StatementThe University of Idaho is an equal employment opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.#J-18808-Ljbffr
