Budget Officer Duties

As a Budget Officer your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

1. Direct formulation, justification, and long-range planning for the Wildland Fire Management budget.
2. Oversee budget execution, fund allocation, and compliance with Federal appropriations law and fiscal policy.
3. Advise senior leadership on budget strategy, legislative impacts, and resource requirements.
4. Represent the agency before the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Congress, the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Office of Inspector General (OIG), and other Federal organizations on budget matters.
5. Coordinate bureau-wide budget development, reprogramming actions, supplemental funding requests, and budget justifications.
6. Lead budget performance management, strategic planning, and reporting to align resources with program objectives.
7. Review financial plans, monitor obligations and expenditures, and ensure compliance with statutory and departmental requirements.
8. Provide fiscal oversight for Wildland Fire Information and Technology investments and enterprise budget initiatives.
9. Supervise multidisciplinary staff, including workforce planning, performance management, hiring, and organizational leadership.
