State of Idaho, Division of Career Technical Education (IDCTE) provides administration, leadership, and coordination for secondary and post‑secondary career technical education programs across Idaho.Program SummaryThe Program Director for Fire Service Training leads statewide fire service training programs within IDCTE, ensuring high‑quality training delivery, accreditation compliance, and coordination of fire service education and certification efforts.ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership and StrategyProvide leadership and oversight of statewide fire service training programs.Develop and implement strategies to ensure high‑quality, accessible training across Idaho.Serve as Idaho's representative for fire service training accreditation and certification entities.Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure training programs meet the needs of career and volunteer firefighters.Stakeholder Engagement and CoordinationServe as a liaison among fire departments, educational institutions, and partner agencies.Build and maintain relationships with statewide fire service and training stakeholders.Coordinate training efforts across regional areas to ensure consistency and access.Collaborate with the Idaho Fire Service leaders to determine the training and testing needs.Facilitate customer service culture within the agency that transfers to the Idaho Fire Service.Team Leadership and AdministrationSupervise fire service training staff and support instructor development.Foster a team‑oriented environment focused on performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.Manage program operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and program delivery.Compliance, Accreditation, and ReportingEnsure compliance with state and federal requirements and accreditation standards.Maintain and support accreditation processes for fire service certification programs.Facilitate preparation of the fiscal, narrative, and evaluative reports on program performance and budget.Program Operations and DevelopmentOversee student training record management systems.Administer federal grants, including application, implementation, and reporting.Lead special projects and program initiatives to improve training delivery and outcomes.Minimum QualificationsExperience in fire service training, education, or emergency services, typically at least four years delivering or coordinating training in fire or emergency services.Experience in leadership or program management, typically having supervised staff, led programs, or managed operations in a training or emergency services environment.Experience with budget preparation and administration.Experience coordinating programs or services across multiple stakeholders.Certification in fire service instruction or a related field.Firefighter I certification or equivalent.Preferred QualificationsFirefighter II certifications or equivalent.Bachelor's degree in fire service, public administration, or a related field.Fire Officer certification or advanced leadership training (e.g., Executive Fire Officer Program).Experience managing accreditation or certification programs.Experience administering grants or managing program budgets.Experience with equipment or vehicle maintenance related to fire service operations.Additional certifications such as Driver Operator or Commercial Driver's License.Application NotesThis position is exempt from the rules of classified service under the provisions of Section 67-5303, Idaho Code.
