divh2Court Security Officer/h2pThis position provides court security services for Fourth Judicial District Courthouse facilities and is responsible for the general security and safety of all those who use the county court facilities./ppEssential Functions:/pulliProvides security for the Ada County Courthouse, Ada County Juvenile Court Services Building, and/or other Ada County buildings as appropriate;/liliProvides courtroom security during court proceedings;/liliTakes individuals into custody within the courtroom as directed by a Judge;/liliProvides security for Judges, court staff, juries, county employees and the public;/liliMonitors jury activities including jury orientation; arranging accommodations and transportation, escorting jurors to crime scenes, and tracking expenses;/liliAssists in monitoring x-ray and metal detector equipment to eliminate and secure all contraband and/or illegal weapons from entering Ada County facilities;/liliAssists the public by providing information and answering inquiries about court schedule, locations, and procedures;/liliInvestigates and submits detailed written reports;/liliTakes emergency action and/or notifies emergency personnel as the situation warrants./li/ulpAdditional Functions:/pulliServes subpoenas and summons in both civil and criminal matters;/liliServes arrest warrants;/liliPerforms Bailiff duties;/liliPerforms related duties as required./li/ulpJob Requirements:/pulliMust be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent;/liliA minimum of 12 months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of experience and training;/liliGood knowledge of law enforcement practices;/liliGood knowledge of fundamental security policies and procedures;/liliGood knowledge of court procedures;/liliGood knowledge of security equipment and screening methods;/liliKnowledge of process serving regulations;/liliGood skill in use of firearms;/liliSkill in the use of computer programs;/liliAbility to hear, listen to, and understand radio transmissions using an ear piece;/liliAbility to communicate effectively in both verbally and in writing;/liliAbility to perform necessary searches of persons, personal belongings, and buildings;/liliAbility to keep accurate records;/liliAbility to prepare accurate and grammatically correct written reports;/liliAbility to deal firmly and courteously with the public;/liliAbility to remain alert at all times;/liliAbility to operate security and screening equipment;/liliAbility to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations;/liliAbility to maintain a professional image and demeanor sufficient to facilitate the accomplishment of his/her direction to others;/liliAbility to analyze situations quickly and objectively to recognize actual and potential dangers;/liliAbility to make sound, reasonable decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and established procedures;/liliAbility to perform duties without posing a direct or indirect threat to the health and/or safety of the public, court, employees, and/or incumbent./li/ulpOther Requirements:/pulliMust adhere to Idaho Judicial Branch Code of Conduct for non-judicial employees;/liliMust be able to qualify with a handgun and maintain proficiency in the use of firearms;/liliMust possess and maintain a valid Idaho drivers license;/liliMust successfully pass an in-depth background investigation and have no felony convictions or history of domestic violence;/liliMust meet all training and certification standards required by the position;/liliThis position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing./li/ulpWork Environment Physical Demands:/pulliMust be able to work day or night shifts, as needed;/liliMost of the work is performed in and around courthouse facilities and involves an element of personal danger;/liliSufficient manual dexterity to use a firearm safely and effectively;/liliThe work requires sufficient physical strength to subdue an uncooperative individual(s) and move quickly to places of confrontation or potential trouble./li/ul/div
