Work Schedule Summary - Available shifts would typically be between the hours of 5:00 PM5:00 AM. These hours may vary depending on operational need.
Position Responsibilities
Position Summary - This position oversees and implements university safety and security policies to create a safe and secure environment for the university community both day-to-day and during event operations. This position also plays a key role in establishing and strengthening relationships with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders through providing exemplary customer service. May be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure. Duties may include:
- Conduct general security patrol on campus and at events and report emergencies to university, city or state officials
- Assist with Safe Walks, extra patrol requests, building lockouts and on-call notifications
- Enforce university alcohol policies
- Monitor access control, check credentials, check tickets and enforce clear bag requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Responsibilities
Job Duty Function - Implement event-related safety and security policies at events on campus by:
- Operating metal detectors and executing the metal detection screening process
- Enforcing university alcohol policies at events, including verifying age requirements and wrist banding patrons
- Enforcing access control at events by checking credentials, tickets, etc.
- Enforcing university clear bag requirements and checking bags as necessary
- Conducting general security patrol at events and reporting any emergencies to the necessary university, city or state officials

Job Duty Function - Provide 24-hour campus security services by:
- Providing security services across campus as assigned including campus patrols, Safe Walks, extra patrol requests, building lockouts, on-call notifications, etc.
- Keeping a daily activity log
- Reporting emergencies to the necessary university, city and state officials
Percentage Of Time - 40%
Essential/Marginal - Essential
Job Duty Function - Contribute to the team effort by:
- Accepting additional responsibilities and assignments as directed
- Making recommendations and assisting in the optimal use of university resources
Percentage Of Time - 20%

Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications - Using computer software and applications including word-processing software, spreadsheets, email and internet. Working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals. Following documented policies and procedures. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to work a non-standard schedule to meet the needs of the department.
Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of safety and security operations and best practices. One year experience as a safety/security officer. Demonstrated competence with written and verbal communication.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions - Must be able to:
- Move around and between venues throughout the workday
- Carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally
- Bend, stoop, shovel and be comfortable working at significant heights
- Traverse any part of campus including asphalt, sidewalks, grass, dirt, playgrounds, etc.
- Sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Work in inclement weather conditions
