Head of Network Engineering

Description:

Responsibilities / What You'll Do:

  • Work with internal teams to establish network improvement plans
  • Responsible for driving and influencing senior leadership decision making
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders
  • Drive conflict resolution between stakeholders, including senior management and cross‑functional teams
  • Conduct network design reviews and processes of various projects and products
  • Provide technology leadership by working with different teams to deliver solutions
  • Act as key decision maker on network technology
  • Communicate budget estimates for cross‑functional projects/programs, and ensure teams execute assigned projects within approved budgets
  • Escalate issues and potential roadblocks to management, making recommendations to address and resolve
  • Identify and mitigate project execution risks
  • Guide and/or revise project plans to ensure full activity capture and elimination of duplication
  • Define and evangelize processes, policies, and standards across all stakeholders
  • Proactively seek continuous improvement opportunities in process, policies, and standards
  • Lead strategic planning, influencing and driving prioritization of initiatives with functional stakeholders
  • Develop and communicate a roadmap of projects and initiatives to functional stakeholders

Qualifications / Your Background:

  • 15+ years of experience with planning and designing customer‑facing SaaS production data centers with carrier‑grade reliability
  • Strong knowledge of Internet routing protocols and techniques such as BGP, OSPF, ECMP, MPLS
  • Expert knowledge and experience with routing protocols and traffic engineering
  • Expert knowledge and experience with VPN encryption technologies, modern switching platforms, and firewalls including policy implementation and capacity management
  • Working knowledge of Juniper, Arista, and Cisco equipment highly desirable
  • Proven ability to manage mission‑critical, highly visible infrastructure projects to completion
  • Experience with low‑level infrastructure testing and troubleshooting tools including packet capture devices, network equipment debug and diagnostics (Wireshark, NetFlow)
  • Understanding of security‑policy implementation details and how to manage design and support of network environments to maintain policy integrity

Salary Range or On Target Earnings:

Minimum: $194,900.00

Maximum: $426,300.00

We also have a location‑based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations.
