This position is located in Boise, Idaho and requires the ability to travel up to 20% both locally and statewide, with occasional overnight travel. Salary starts at $100,000 annually.

We are currently seeking a Claims Supervisor to join our Claims Leadership team!

As a Claims Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a team of Claims Examiners in their performance of claims management functions. The Claims Supervisor will lead, motivate, and train employees to effectively prioritize work; identify and resolve complex issues in a professional manner; and foster a team environment while providing excellent customer service.

We'll be looking for YOU to:

  • Build collaborative relationships with your team, colleagues and others within the organization to enrich SIF's culture. Seek opportunities for in-person conversations and making connections.
  • Analyze complex workers' compensation claims and provide sound technical guidance to assist team members to identify opportunities to resolve issues and overcome barriers.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure that claims have a properly developed action plan to achieve best claim outcome.
  • Communicate regularly with internal team members and stakeholders, as well as parties outside of SIF including the Idaho Industrial Commission, attorneys, medical providers, injured workers, policyholders, and agents.
  • Handle escalated calls to help resolve customer concerns, facilitating a positive customer experience.
  • Enable the team to meet productivity metrics, service time and quality levels by providing clear workflow guidance and supporting resource needs as they arise.
  • Facilitate weekly check-ins and quarterly coaching conversations with your team to build trust and engagement and to support continuous learning and professional development.
  • Commitment to coaching, developing and mentoring team members to help them achieve their highest potential. If performance-related issues/concerns arise, evaluate coaching/training needs, and facilitate performance counseling as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and administrative rules as well as departmental processes and procedures.
  • Represent SIF in a professional manner at industry and community conferences, events, and meetings with policyholders and agents.

Your background should include:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of workers' compensation claims experience involving complex medical, disability and legal issues; Minimum of 3 years' experience with Idaho claims handling preferred.
  • Experience leading, training, developing and coaching employees with an emphasis on building a team focused on providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to de-escalate concerned and emotional stakeholders in a professional and thoughtful manner.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products and analytical reporting tools such as Tableau, Cognos, etc. to produce high-quality reports and presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to consult, negotiate and interact effectively with all levels within the organization and external customers.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively interpret and explain laws, rules, regulations, policies and related business concepts and practices.
  • Ability to act with discretion and use professional judgement when dealing with sensitive and confidential information and/or issues.
