Now Hiring: Transmission Line Engineer

Location: Engineering Services | SEL

Level: Project Engineer III

Pay Range:$120,000–$180,000 (based on experience & location)

As a Transmission Line Engineer, you'll design the backbone of the world's most critical infrastructure and help utility customers protect and control power systems across the globe.

What You'll Do

• Lead and coordinate transmission line designs for both greenfield and brownfield projects
• Own PLS-CADD modeling, structural analysis, design criteria, wire selection, and more
• Serve as a Technical Lead and assist with proposal development
• Perform QA reviews and mentor early-career engineers and designers
• Estimate project labor, material, and construction costs
• Conduct field inspections, route evaluations, and provide construction support
• Prepare construction bid documents and review contracts, specs, and bids

You Might Be a Great Fit If You Have…

• A B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited)
• 5+ years of transmission line engineering experience in the utility industry
• A P.E. license (or the ability to obtain one in the required timeframe)
• Strong technical skill in:
• Plan & profile drawings
• Structure loading & analysis (wood, steel, concrete)
• Sag-tension & conductor clearance analysis
• Foundation design
• Route selection & environmental considerations
• Permitting, ROW, property lines, easements
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, SAG10
• Experience with structural tools like LPile and RISA 3D/Foundation
• A meticulous, analytical mindset—and the ability to guide junior teammates

Bonus Points For…

• Experience designing 69kV–500kV transmission lines
• Familiarity with renewable energy integration or grid modernization
• Hands-on expertise with Power Line Systems (PLS) tools
