Description:

Service Technician

The Service Technician builds and assembles temporary office units commonly used at construction sites, including the interior setup of desks, chairs, and other requested furnishings. This role is ideal for mechanically inclined construction professionals with strong framing and carpentry experience who enjoy hands-on work with hand and power tools. The technician works primarily inside a covered facility, with occasional outdoor tasks, contributing to the full construction, installation, and preparation of modular office units for client use.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble temporary office units from start to finish within a covered facility and occasionally outdoors.
  • Perform framing and carpentry work to construct the structural components of modular office units.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to cut, fasten, assemble, and finish building materials.
  • Install and assemble interior furnishings such as desks, chairs, and other items requested by clients inside the units.
  • Follow construction plans, instructions, and specifications to ensure units meet quality and safety standards.
  • Assist with basic HVAC, electrical, or plumbing tasks if experienced, while understanding that trade-specific work will not be performed every day.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility and safety guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and support consistent workflow throughout the year.
  • Adapt to changing priorities, including occasional outdoor work and overtime, to meet project and customer demands.

Essential Skills

  • Previous construction experience with a focus on hands-on building and assembly work.
  • Framing experience, including measuring, cutting, and assembling structural components.
  • Carpentry skills for building, finishing, and installing components within modular units.

  • Proficiency with power tools such as drills, saws, nail guns, and other construction equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how components fit and function together.
  • Ability to work indoors most of the time with occasional outdoor tasks as needed.
  • Capability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment appropriately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with plumbing tasks is a plus.
  • Experience with electrical work is a plus.
  • Experience with HVAC systems is a plus.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks and not focus solely on one trade.
  • Comfort working in a production-style environment with consistent workloads.
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays when required to meet operational needs.

Why Work Here?

You will join a large, stable national organization that offers the close-knit feel of a smaller local team with steady work throughout the entire year. Unlike many construction roles that are heavily affected by seasonal conditions, this position provides consistent hours and reliable employment, reducing the risk of seasonal layoffs. Most work takes place indoors in a comfortable, covered facility, offering a more predictable and protected work setting. Upon conversion to a permanent role, you can access solid benefits that support long-term stability and growth.

Work Environment

The role is based primarily in a covered indoor facility where approximately 85% of the work is performed, with about 15% of tasks completed outdoors. The work area is clean and organized, supporting efficient and safe construction and assembly of modular office units using standard construction hand tools and power tools. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, currently around 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a workweek of about 45 to 50 hours depending on staffing levels and workload. Overtime and occasional Saturdays may be required, especially during periods of high demand. The dress code consists of practical work clothes such as jeans and a t-shirt, along with steel-toed shoes. Additional personal protective equipment is provided by the employer to support a safe working environment.
