Summary Statement
Help create a positive first impression for guests visiting Boise's outdoor pools. As a Receptionist/Cashier, you will welcome visitors, issue swim passes, and process pool entry fees while providing friendly and efficient customer service. You'll play an important role in supporting daily front desk operations and helping guests enjoy a smooth and organized start to their time at the pool.
This temporary, summer-only position is located at one of Boise Parks and Recreation's outdoor pool facilities and works up to 19 hours per week. Shifts include evenings, weekends, and holidays during the summer season. Applicants must be age 16 or older.
Essential Functions
Staffs front counter at pools and greets customers. Answers phones and provides information to the public. Collects pool fees and processes activity registrations quickly and accurately using City Recreation Software.
Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Ability to:
Interact with the public, coworkers and supervisors in a friendly and tactful manner.
Perform basic mathematical calculations.
Operate a Point of Sale system and calculate change quickly and accurately.
Exercise some independent judgment and follow city policies.
Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations.
Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.
Complete assignments in a timely fashion.
Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Perform custodial duties.
Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Physical Efforts
The noise level is frequently moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision. Employees will sit, stand, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures and in wet and humid conditions.
This position works: Evenings, weekends, and holidays during the summer season, which includes split shifts.
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
