IPinfo is a premier provider of IP address data, focusing on services like geolocation, VPN, and residential proxy detection. We manage over 120 billion API requests monthly and supply valuable data to renowned clients including Cloudflare, T-Mobile, and SpaceX. We are a rapidly growing, bootstrapped company with a global team of approximately 60 people and actively engage in academic conferences to connect with research communities.

Our ambitious and distributed team fosters an innovative culture, encouraging collaboration through monthly all-hands meetings and regular calls. Our asynchronous work environment, utilizing tools such as Slack and GitHub, allows you to choose your working hours and enhance your productivity.

As a Research Intern, you will be a key member of our research team, delving deep into extensive datasets and collaborating on academic research publications. You will have the opportunity to present your findings at prestigious Internet measurement conferences.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Analyzing over 75TB of Internet data collected weekly, including BGP, DNS, ping, and traceroute data from more than 1200 servers globally.
  • Collaborating on a defined data analysis project with our research and data teams, gaining insights in data processing and Internet measurements.
  • Presenting results with the team and exploring publication opportunities in academic venues.

Key Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a PhD in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python or Go; experienced in data analysis with SQL, pandas, or R.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experienced with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • A dedication to continuous learning; open-minded, adaptable, and motivated to improve.
  • (Optional) Previous publications in networking or security conferences or journals.
