Network Performance Engineer

Overview

GovCIO is on the lookout for a talented Network Performance Engineer to support and enhance our client's needs. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing a large-scale network for a prominent Government Agency. This position is fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver top-notch Incident Response support by monitoring the ticketing system and resolving network-related incidents efficiently.

  • Manage and improve our SolarWinds instance, ensuring effective monitoring and alert generation for network equipment.

  • Develop and maintain interactive web dashboards that utilize programming and database calls to SolarWinds and other systems through SWQL Studio.

  • Participate in troubleshooting sessions for connectivity issues by leveraging SolarWinds, analyzing packet capture data, and reviewing syslogs.

  • Utilize advanced network diagnostic tools to swiftly pinpoint and resolve network anomalies, thereby minimizing downtime.

  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis on diagnosed network issues.

  • Proactively identify and address network anomalies, optimizing overall network performance through robust diagnostics.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation related to managed systems.

  • Ensure adherence to security standards, policies, and best practices in IT systems and data protection.

  • Train and mentor internal teams on effective utilization of SolarWinds for enhanced monitoring and network issue diagnosis.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree alongside 5 - 8 years of relevant experience.

  • Over 5 years of experience in monitoring and managing network equipment.

  • Proficient experience with Incident and Request ticketing systems.

  • Strong expertise in SolarWinds, including dashboard creation and management.

  • A solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, etc.) and SNMP in SolarWinds contexts.

  • Fundamental knowledge of MPLS, WAN routing principles, IPv4, and IPv6 protocols.

  • Basic understanding of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8/9) for Apache2 web server administration.

  • Some familiarity with API usage for data extraction across various vendor platforms.

  • Basic coding skills in Bash, Python, PHP, Perl, JavaScript, and MySQL.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • A collaborative team-oriented mindset, along with the ability to work independently when needed.

Clearance Required: Candidates must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a HUD Public Trust clearance.

Posted Salary Range

USD $90,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr. Note that base pay offered may differ based on various factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity.
