Arena Maintenance Technician

This position is based at the Idaho Central Arena in the heart of downtown Boise, Idaho. Hosting 100+ sporting and entertainment events a year, including 36 home games for our primary ECHL tenant team the Idaho Steelheads. Our arena's events and the surrounding restaurants, nightlife, and shopping are sure to provide a true Idaho experience.

Position information: Responsible to provide a safe, well-maintained and comfortable environment for staff and the public. Performs under the supervision of the Operations Manager. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Operate ice re-surfacing machine to maintain a quality sheet of ice
2. Perform general cleaning as well as general maintenance of facility and grounds maintenance
3. Clean dasher boards and glass and maintain cleanliness of maintain seating areas, locker rooms and other areas
4. Enforce safety rules and regulations that ensures the facility operates in a safe manner
5. Performs general maintenance of resurfacing machine and other ice-related equipment. Monitor all refrigeration equipment and keep necessary records and log books
6. Perform general building maintenance and performs minor repairs when needed
7. Attend training and other staff meetings
8. Responsible for closing/openings of the facility

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must possess a valid driver's license
• Ability to perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties
• Ability to use hand and power tool
• Knowledge of applicable work hazards and safety precautions
• Demonstrate some mechanical aptitude, ability to perform minor operating adjustments and recognize operating deficiencies in assigned equipment
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner
• Ability to professionally exhibit cultural sensitivity, patience and understanding in the course or work duties
• Ability to relate to and work with individuals representing a variety of diverse backgrounds and cultures
• Ability to provide a level of customer service that meets/exceeds customer expectation and satisfaction

Desired qualifications:

• Knowledge of and experience with mechanical equipment including, but not limited to, refrigeration equipment, Zamboni, ice edgers, and operating characteristics of assigned equipment
• Experience working in the ice arena and driving a resurfacer or machinery
