Amalgamated Sugar Company is seeking an experienced welder to perform a variety of tasks within the sugar factory and its properties. This is a heavy-duty labor position in an industrial environment that encompasses all aspects of welding in a sugar production environment.

Pay:

  • Starting pay is $33.28 with ability to advance to $35.05 per hour as you learn the operation and demonstrate your skills.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Must be able and willing to work in full compliance with approved safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing and able to work some holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be a team player and able to effectively communicate and interact with co-workers as well as internal and external stakeholders such us engineers, plant management, and external contractors.
  • Able to lift 55 lbs., stand up to 10 hours a day, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, and move equipment as needed. Must be comfortable in year around outdoor temperatures, in loud conditions, and working around moving mechanical equipment.
  • Able to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions in English including safety procedures, safety signs, work orders, schedules, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and manufacturing standards and procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness standards.
Duties:
  • Welding and Fabrication: Perform tasks using MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand project specifications and requirements.
  • Equipment Operation: Set up, maintain, and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe woking environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Welding certification from an accredited welding program preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience working as a welder with preference given to industrial and continuous manufacturing environments.
  • Experience welding (TIG/MIG/Stick) carbon steel and stainless steel.
  • Must pass a 6G welding test to be employed.
  • Physically capable of climbing ladders and stairs several times per shift.
  • Must be able to work at various heights, using ladders, scaffolding or other equipment as necessary.
