Process And Equipment Maintenance Technician

Micron Technology is seeking highly motivated Process and Equipment Maintenance Technicians to support wafer fabrication in a dynamic manufacturing environment. In this role, you will monitor and sustain equipment and processes, conduct analysis, and collaborate with Shift Operations, equipment engineers, and tool vendors to improve efficiency, yield, and performance.

Responsibilities:

Process Technician

  • Operate and monitor semiconductor processing equipment; handle up to 25 online manufacturing systems.
  • Support wafer process efficiency, quality, and innovation through collaboration with engineering, operations, and other key partners.
  • Support engineering and process development teams, helping improve workstation operations and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Support problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts; use data analysis to guide process decisions.
  • Work in both cleanroom and office environments, adapting to fabrication and data analysis needs.
  • Follow safety protocols and perform physical tasks, including standing for long periods, lifting 2540 lbs, and navigating tight or uneven spaces.
  • Communicate clearly and handle tasks independently, using Microsoft Office tools to complete work efficiently.
  • Conduct technical tests and experiments for R&D in wafer fabrication; prepare reports and present findings.

Equipment Technician

  • Collaborate with team members and vendors to monitor equipment performance, address preventative maintenance needs, and proactively resolve safety concerns.
  • Perform light assembly and maintain cleanroom standards, including lifting materials (2540 lbs), using handheld tools, and following housekeeping protocols to support equipment availability.
  • Ability to wear fab-specific cleanroom garments at all times and occasionally wear PPE (e.g., chemical apron, face shield).
  • Document process deviations and drive improvements, using root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and optimize operations.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks safely, including standing up to 10 hours, walking 15 miles per shift, lifting 2540 lbs, and navigating confined or uneven spaces.
  • Safely handle gases and chemicals, maintain situational awareness, and follow all safety policies including proper use of PPE like respirators and cleanroom garments.
  • Lead and support projects focused on equipment maintenance and operational improvements, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Understand mechanical, electrical or controls operations of HVAC/R systems, including chiller plants, compressed air, heating water, cooling water, process exhaust, cleanroom HVAC/R, and general building HVAC/R.

  • Navy Rates (but not limited to): Electronics Technician (ET), Machinists Mate (MM), Electricians Mate (EM), Missile Technician (MT), Information Systems technician (IT), Aviation Electronics Technician (AT), Aviation Antisubmarine Warfare Technician (AX), Torpedoman's Mate (TM), Sonar Technician (ST), and All Nuclear reactor rates (MMN, EMN, ETN). FT (Fire Control Submarine), FC (Fire Control Surface)
  • Army MOS (but not limited to): 17C, 25-series, 91-series, 12-series, and 15-series
  • Marine MOS (but not limited to): 06 Communications, 11 Utilities, 13 Engineer Construction Facilities & Equipment, 21 Ground Ordnance Maintenance, 28 Ground Electronics Maintenance
  • Air Force (but not limited to): Aircraft Mechanic, Avionics Specialist, Missile and Space Systems Maintenance, Specialty Electronics
  • Coast Guard (but not limited to): Electronics Technician (ET), Electricians Mate (EM), Information Systems Technician (IT), Machinery Technician (MK), Aviation Electrical Technician (AET), Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT)

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience performing preventative maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment to reduce downtime.
  • 2+ years of experience applying mechanical, electronic, and software skills to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts (3 days on/4 days off and 4 days on/3 days off), rotate between day and night shifts every 4 months, and work overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to alternate assignments between the Remote Operations Center (ROC) and in-FAB, with approximately 80% of time spent in ROC and 20% in-FAB.

Preferred Requirements:

  • AAS or AS degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent trade school/military experience.
  • 2+ years of experience identifying performance gaps and implementing strategic improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability in maintaining manufacturing equipment, automation systems, or technical military experience.
  • Demonstrated ability overseeing projects involving equipment upkeep and improvement, emphasizing meeting project scope, timeline, and financial constraints.
