Dive into a hands-on role that helps keep our city pools clean, safe, and summer-ready!
As a Seasonal Aquatics Maintenance Worker, you'll play a key behind-the-scenes role in keeping city swimming pools operating smoothly. You'll assist with manual and unskilled labor related to cleaning, repairing, and maintaining pool water quality systems, along with mechanical and plumbing equipment. From stocking dry chemicals and testing water chemistry to setting up pool deck amenities, your work helps ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for every swimmer.
You'll also support general and light cleaning of changing rooms, restrooms, pool decks, and surrounding grounds—helping create a welcoming, well-maintained environment all season long. This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and runs up to 8 months from March through October, and is open to all interested applicants age 19 and older. Essential Functions
Assists with manual and unskilled labor in the cleaning, repair and maintenance of city swimming pool water quality systems and mechanical and plumbing equipment. Stocks dry chemicals and tests pool water chemical balance. Sets up pool deck amenities and assists with general and light cleaning of changing rooms, restrooms, pool decks and grounds.

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Working knowledge of:
Construction and landscape techniques.
General cleaning and janitorial methods.
Ability to:
Utilize hand and power tools in a safe manner.
Performs general maintenance and repairs to park facilities.
Interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner.
Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations.
Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.
Complete assignments in a timely fashion.
Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds. The noise level is frequently very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity. Additional physical efforts include: lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical hazards. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to chemicals.
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
