This Real Estate Investigator position is a great opportunity for a professional who's looking to provide consumer protection and public safety for all Idahoans.

Summary:

To investigate complaints, determine compliance, and enforce Idaho Real Estate Law; perform related work.

Job Responsibilities:

Investigation and Analysis:

  • Reviews, evaluates, and investigates complaints against brokers, sales agents, and unlicensed persons acting as agents
  • Reviews, audits and investigates reports requiring enforcement for compliance with real estate laws
  • Interviews complainants, buyers, sellers, agents, and others to determine facts
  • Conducts internet research, including social networking websites
  • Analyzes information and prepares documentation
  • Provides technical assistance on investigative and legal procedures for compliance and enforcement actions
  • Compiles and analyzes data
  • Writes fact-based investigative reports
  • Testifies at administrative hearings
Technical Assistance and Review:
  • Explains and interprets real estate license law and commission rules and policies
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with licensees, the public, attorneys, staff and others concerning real estate transactions and related laws and regulations
  • Prepares reports regarding real estate laws, rules, and enforcement
  • Examines records, files, and licenses for conformity with statutory requirements
  • Checks agreements, closing statements and related documents verifying completeness, delivery, and compliance with laws and regulations Issues warnings for violations
  • Writes articles for publication
  • Maintains currency with industry standards and expectations
Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: conducting fact-finding interviews; developing and monitoring contracts with a goal of gleaning evidence or identifying discrepancies; writing detailed fact-based professional reports; interpreting and enforcing regulations, policies, contracts, laws, corporate rules, or other enforcement or regulatory activity; explaining rules, regulations, or policies to customers, clients, employees, or others; with basic office related computer programs. Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Some knowledge of accounting principles either through work experience or education.
