Overview of Data Management and Governance at Cardinal Health

The Data & Analytics Function is vital for overseeing the entire analytics life-cycle, aimed at identifying, analyzing, and presenting insights that empower business decisions and seize opportunities for competitive advantage. This function is responsible for managing analytic data platforms, implementing reporting/business intelligence solutions, and applying sophisticated quantitative modeling.

Data Management and Governance focuses on guiding data assets, ensuring robust data strategy, quality, standards, and service levels. This includes acquiring, validating, standardizing, enriching, protecting, and disseminating both structured and unstructured data for business use. Governance establishes and enforces policies, standards, and metrics to guarantee the efficient application of trusted data and statistical models in alignment with regulatory and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The Data Management and Governance Advisor will be part of the Digital Solutions - GMPD Data and Analytics Management team, serving as a Data Governance Specialist. This role will act as a Data Steward and change agent, closely collaborating with Data Owners, Business Stakeholders, Data Leads, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to:

  • Implement data governance initiatives using the Data Governance Playbook.
  • Partner with Data Owners and stakeholders to set and achieve targets for data management maturity and data quality index.
  • Document and maintain data ownership, prioritization, and the criticality of data elements.
  • Capture and uphold metadata and data lineage using specialized technical tools.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance data quality through analysis, remediation, process controls, and technological solutions.
  • Present findings in Working Groups and Leadership meetings for alignment and endorsement.
  • Create and oversee current and future state data flows, identifying dependencies and integration points.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in data management, governance, healthcare, and/or supply chain preferred.
  • Process-oriented mindset with experience in process mapping.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills for collaboration across various teams and leadership levels.
  • Proven analytical abilities with experience in problem-solving and resolving complex issues.
  • Familiarity with Data Governance and Quality Technologies (SAP, Collibra, GCP, etc.) preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in data extraction, manipulation, analysis, and visualization using Excel, Python, SQL, and Alteryx; experience with Power-Automate and RPA tools is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cardinal Health business processes and systems preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Demonstrate personal courage and resilience.

Knowledge of Data Management Processes

  • Understanding of data structures and elements.
  • Familiarity with data management principles, metadata management, and data administration.
  • Knowledge of and ability to drive data governance, data quality, and remediation processes.
  • Understanding of data modeling, data lineage, and data usage considerations.
  • Ability to comprehend the business context, high-level technical solutions, and related data lifecycle.
  • Expertise in navigating a complex data landscape to gather and analyze data using key tools and systems.

Anticipated Salary Range: $80,900 - $103,950
