Purpose Statement: The Reading Intervention Paraprofessional supports students in developing strong foundational literacy skills through the delivery of targeted, evidence-based reading interventions. Working under the supervision of certified teachers and school administrators, the Reading Intervention Paraprofessional provides small-group and individual reading support to students identified as needing supplemental instruction to improve reading achievement. Scope of the Position: The Reading Intervention Paraprofessional works directly with identified students to provide targeted reading intervention aligned to Anser Charter School's literacy goals and instructional framework. Students served have been identified through assessment data as requiring additional support in reading. Under the supervision of the Education Director, Assistant Education Director, and/or designated instructional staff, the Reading Interventionist Paraprofessional implements structured reading interventions, supports progress monitoring, and collaborates with teachers to reinforce classroom instruction. Essential Functions: Support Anser's mission to educate the whole child in a collaborative learning community by helping students grow as confident and capable readers. Provide direct reading intervention to individual students and small groups as directed by certified staff. Implement evidence-based reading programs and strategies with fidelity. Follow lesson plans and instructional guidance provided by classroom teachers, intervention specialists, or instructional leaders. Support instruction in foundational literacy skills including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Assist with the administration of literacy assessments and progress monitoring tools, as directed. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and progress. Communicate regularly with supervising staff regarding student progress and concerns. Create and maintain a supportive, safe, and encouraging learning environment for students. Model positive learning behaviors and encourage student engagement and reflection. Support consistency between intervention instruction and classroom literacy practices. Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information. Participate in required trainings, team meetings, and professional learning opportunities. Supervise students to ensure a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required (will be required to take the Parapro Assessment administered by the school); associate's degree or two years of coursework in education or literacy preferred. Experience working with elementary or middle school students, preferably in reading or academic support settings. Basic knowledge of early literacy and reading development. Ability to implement structured instructional routines and follow guidance from certified staff. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Commitment to equity and the belief that all students can learn and grow. Ability to work independently while remaining responsive to supervision and feedback. Demonstrates patience, professionalism, and a positive approach to working with students. Compensation: $18.00-$22.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
