This role serves as a senior technical resource in hydrographic data acquisition, processing, and quality control, ensuring surveys meet or exceed client, regulatory, and industry standards. Leads a team of junior staff, supports project planning and execution, and contributes to continuous improvement of survey methodologies, safety, and data quality./ph3Responsibilities/h3pLeadership and Direction/pulliIndependently plan and execute hydrographic survey operations for moderate to highly complex projects./liliServe as a technical resource and mentor to Hydrographers and Survey Technicians./liliSupport Project Managers with technical input, scope development, schedules, and cost estimates./liliPromote adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across field and office activities./li/ulpAt the Operational and Company Level/pulliPlan and oversee hydrographic survey operations including vessel selection, equipment configuration, and survey line planning./liliRepresent and market Bowmans capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships./liliOperate and supervise the use of hydrographic survey equipment such as: Multibeam and single beam echosounders, GNSS/INS positioning systems, Sound velocity profilers and tide gauges./liliEnsure surveys comply with applicable standards (e.g., NOAA, USACE, IHO S-44, state and local requirements)./liliProvide advanced data processing, analysis, and quality control using industry-standard software./liliTroubleshoot equipment, survey methods, and data quality issues in the field and office./liliCoordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to resolve technical questions and survey constraints./li/ulpDo the Work/pulliConduct hydrographic data acquisition in marine, coastal, riverine, and inland environments./liliProcess, analyze, and validate bathymetric and positioning data to produce final deliverables./liliPrepare technical reports, survey metadata, and documentation supporting project deliverables./liliReview and certify survey data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications./liliSupport proposal development with technical narratives and input on survey approaches./liliContribute to development and refinement of standard operating procedures and best practices./liliDevelop promotional concepts and new client business opportunities in all areas of service and all geographic locations./li/ulh3Success Metrics and Competencies/h3pAbility to work both independently and within a team environment. Delivery of accurate, compliant hydrographic survey data on schedule and within budget./ph3Qualifications/h3pBachelors degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, Surveying, Oceanography, Civil Engineering, or a related field required. Eight or more (8+) years of progressively responsible hydrographic survey experience. Professional hydrographic certification required (e.g., Certified Hydrographer (CH), IHO Category A or B, or equivalent). Experience leading field crews and overseeing complex survey projects preferred.
