IPinfo is a leading provider of IP address data, specializing in services like geolocation, VPN and residential proxy detection, and more. We handle over 120 billion API requests monthly and provide invaluable data to prominent clients including Cloudflare, T-Mobile, and SpaceX. As a fast-growing, bootstrapped company with a global team of around 60, we also actively participate in academic conferences to connect with research communities.

As a Research Intern, you will be a vital part of our research team, diving deep into our extensive dataset and collaborating on academic research papers. You'll also have the opportunity to present your findings at esteemed Internet measurement conferences.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Analyzing over 75TB of Internet data collected weekly, including BGP, DNS, ping, and traceroute data from more than 1200 servers worldwide.
  • Working on a defined data analysis project alongside our research and data teams, gaining new insights in data processing and Internet measurements.
  • Presenting your results with the team and exploring potential publication opportunities in academic venues.

Key Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a PhD in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python or Go; skilled in data analysis using SQL, pandas, or R.
  • Excellent analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Strong communication skills, effectively translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • A commitment to continuous learning; open-minded, flexible, and driven to improve.
  • (Optional) Previous publications in networking or security conferences or journals.
