Summary

This position is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) opportunity aimed at recruiting qualified candidates for the competitive service within the Department of Defense.

About the Position: This Military Technician position is associated with the 88th Readiness Division, ECS 10 BMA 2 located in Boise, Idaho.

Important Membership Requirement: Active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accountability documents and warehouse reports to ensure accurate tracking.
  • Operate a variety of diesel and gasoline-powered equipment including generators and vehicles up to 70 tons.
  • Handle forklifts and heavy equipment with capacities ranging from 2,000 to 50,000 pounds.
  • Utilize various forklifts for loading, unloading, and preparing equipment and supplies for transport.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks and services on all operating equipment.
  • Conduct operator maintenance including inspecting vehicle braking systems and lights.
  • Issue and receive equipment while managing warehouse storage.
  • Load outgoing equipment and ensure proper documentation is prepared.
  • Participate in the Army Oil Analysis Program and help with dispatching equipment.
  • Receive incoming warehouse items and equipment, inspecting for damage and serviceability.

Requirements:

  • Active membership as a Soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve is mandatory.
  • Appointment may require a background investigation for suitability or fitness.
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program regulations.
  • A Class A CDL is required to perform job duties.
  • A medical examination prior to employment is necessary.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation will be conducted.

Qualifications:

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to perform the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator effectively without needing excessive supervision. Documented experience in operating gasoline-powered equipment and performing warehouse tasks is essential. Experience managing forklifts and performing basic maintenance checks, like fluid levels and tire pressure, will be considered.

Physical Effort Required: Expect to perform tasks on hard surfaces requiring physical agility, including standing, bending, and lifting items up to 40 pounds regularly.

Working Conditions: This position involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions. You may encounter hazards such as fumes, dirt, and potential injuries while operating vehicles.

  • New Military Technicians may be eligible for moving expenses when starting at their first duty station.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.
  • Probationary periods may be applicable upon employment.
  • Permanent Change of Station allowances may be available depending on specific regulations.
