Summary StatementBe the friendly first hello and last goodbye for guests at Zoo Boise! As a Zoo Front Gate Attendant, you'll be at the heart of the guest experience-welcoming visitors, assisting with admissions and purchases, and helping set the tone for a fun and memorable day at the zoo. Open to individuals 16 years of age and older, this role offers up to 19 hours per week with shifts that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Collects admission fees and answers customer questions.* Sells Zoo Boise memberships, reconciles cash, and provides customers with Zoo information as requested.* Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.RequirementsRequired Knowledge, Experience, And Training* Experience working with customers and handling cash.Working knowledge of:* Zoo operations and programs.* Basic math skills.Ability to:* Interact with customer and participants in a tactful manner* Provide a high level of customer service to patrons* Perform basic mathematical computations quickly and accurately* Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations* Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance* Complete assignments in a timely fashion* Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations* Maintain prompt and regular attendance* Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training* Six months experience in a customer service role.Special RequirementsApplicants must be able to pass:* City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process RegulationWorking ConditionsThe physical effort characteristics and working environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
