Summary Statement
Be a friendly, knowledgeable presence on the trails and help create a safe, welcoming outdoor experience for everyone! As an R2R Lead Trail Ranger, you'll patrol trails and share educational information about trail etiquette and trail-related management with users of all ages. You'll connect with individuals and groups, helping promote respectful, responsible, and enjoyable use of our trail system. You'll play a key role in protecting our trails while serving as a positive ambassador for the community. Essential Functions
- Patrols trails via foot or mountain bike. Provides educational information to community on trail etiquette and management.
- Works with volunteer Trail Rangers in organizing Trail Awareness Days and other similar trail education related events. Coordinate with organized hiking, running and cycling clubs to provide trail use related education to their members. Gives Ridge to Rivers related presentations at public events.
- Assist with planning and coordinating annual Trail User Survey, and tabulating results from survey. Provide assistance to Ridge to Rivers trail crew in performing trail maintenance or construction related functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
RequirementsRequired Knowledge, Experience, And Training - Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to - Give presentations to large groups of people.
- Work independently.
- Work weekends and evenings.
- Expert ability to hike and mountain bike long distances on singletrack trails in rugged terrain, under varied and extreme weather conditions.
Knowledge of - The Ridge to Rivers trail system.
- Trail etiquette requirements related to various non-motorized and motorized user groups.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training - Two seasons experience working in a position such as an Interpretive Naturalist, Wilderness Ranger, River Ranger or Guide.
- Expert level mountain bike and hiking skills.
Special Requirements Applicants must be able to pass: - City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Working Environment - The work environment will include outdoor weather conditions, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position.
