Job description

The opportunity

Are you a caring and proactive professional with experience in student welfare, looking for a rewarding role in Higher Education? University of the Arts London is seeking a Student Engagement & Welfare Coordinator to play a vital role in supporting students across our Study Abroad and Preparation Programmes (SAPP).

Part of UAL's Academic Enterprise (AE), SAPP delivers specialist education programmes for the international market, including pre-degree courses and study abroad opportunities.

As a Student Engagement & Welfare Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of student welfare and safeguarding in line with UAL policies, sector standards and best practice. Your role is equally split between welfare and student engagement support, ensuring students receive a high-quality service across admissions, enrolment and student records throughout their journey at UAL.

This will involve:

  • Acting as the operational lead for student welfare and safeguarding across SAPP
  • Managing complex and escalated welfare cases, including risk assessments, support plans and confidential GDPR-compliant record keeping
  • Coordinating disability support across all SAPP programmes
  • Administering the full application and enrolment cycle
  • Providing guidance and support to applicants, supporting student recruitment and conversion

About you

Educated to degree level (or with relevant professional experience), you will have experience of working in student welfare, particularly with international students, alongside a strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, disability support frameworks, welfare policies and best practice relevant to UK higher education.

You will be confident in developing and delivering welfare procedures, training, and support, and are able to manage welfare concerns with a calm, flexible and professional approach, particularly when working under pressure. With excellent communication skills, you will also be able to build, maintain, and enhance positive relationships with students and partners, while identifying and delivering improvements to the student experience.

If you have any general questions or have accessibility needs, please contact ...@arts.ac.uk

Application process

We operate a fair and open anonymous selection process. Thus, you will need to create an account and submit an application through our job board. As part of this, you will need to provide a supporting statement to demonstrate your suitability. Our recruitment process involves: application, shortlisting, assessment/interview, offer, onboarding.

We understand the benefits of using AI in work. But, if you are thinking of using it to submit an application, we ask you to think about what value it adds. AI tools tend to lack the personal touch and authenticity we value in candidates. We encourage you to showcase your unique knowledge and skills using your own voice.

If we receive a high volume of applications, the closing day date might close early. We aim to communicate any changes to the closing date with at least 24 hours' notice.
