Role Description:

Assist ASTM journals peer review management by learning ASTM peer review processes and developing a database of reviewers for each journal.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn research journal peer review principles and procedures.
  • Learn how an online journal submission system works.
  • Learn how to develop a database of reviewers.
General Responsibilities:
  • Monitor peer review activities for each ASTM journal.
  • Assist Publishing Manager in drafting weekly peer review reports on each ASTM journal.
  • Develop and draft other peer review reports, as needed.
  • Research and develop a database of peer reviewers for each ASTM journal.
Education:

Must be enrolled in a related Bachelor's degree program as a rising Junior or Senior at an accredited College or University.

Key Requirements & Competencies:
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn online software systems
  • Familiarity with research publishing and peer review processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong desire to learn
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent and close visual work at desk or computer.
  • Frequent sitting and working at desk.
  • Frequent verbal and written communication with team and other stakeholders by phone or video conferencing.
Time Requirements & Compensation:
  • Remote
  • 35 hours per week, June through August.
  • Compensation: $18.00/Hour
