About the Agency : The Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) provides consumer protection and public safety through its regulation of more than 204,000 licensees within more than 44 Boards and Commissions here in the great State of Idaho.
This Building Services Supervisor position is a great opportunity for a professional who's looking to provide consumer protection and public safety for all Idahoans. Example of Duties:
Leadership and Team Management
Supervise and coordinate the Permit Technician team.
Set goals, delegate tasks, provide performance reviews, and motivate team members.
Coach, mentor, train, and support Permit Technicians, plan reviewer, and HUD team members
Develop strategies to boost productivity.
Ensure daily work activities of the Permit Technician staff are completed efficiently.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on permits, plan reviews, and HUD inspection activity.
Write detailed procedures for permanent records and training purposes.
Oversee and coordinate the plan review process.
Technical Expertise and communication
Serve as the subject matter expert for Electronic Plan Review (EPR) and permitting software systems.
Analyze processes, applications, and user requirements to identify automation needs.
Collaborate with DOPL IT on software system issues, maintenance, upgrades, and new installations.
Provide technical expertise, troubleshooting, and resolution for Division software problems.
Respond to customer inquiries and high-profile projects under limited supervision.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, employees, customers, vendors, and agencies to resolve problems and coordinate work activities.
Meet with contractors, factory staff, officials, and associations to resolve code issues and problems.
Specialized Responsibilities
Act as the point of contact for factory-built structures.
Assist with preparation of presentation materials, including graphs, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and web content.
Process and issue trade and building permits and perform advanced technical assignments.
Process and issue of conveyance permit.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of supervisory practices.
Experience: Using a computer for business purposes, preparing written documents such as reports, letters, or other business documents; interpreting and applying state codes and laws.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
MQ Specialties:
Considerable knowledge of licensing and permitting procedures and compliance requirements.
Interpreting and applying provisions of the state building code and related rules and regulations.
Interpreting building diagrams and plans.
Compliance Supervisor Experience:
Interpreting, applying, and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies, or services to members of the public
Providing good customer service to independently solve problems with individuals or resolve conflicts in a work setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Intermediate knowledge of project management.
Proven knowledge and experience developing procedures, training, and presentation materials.
General knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations/laws related to building construction.
Proven experience presenting information, both verbally and in writing, to both technically and non-technically oriented audiences; assessing training needs and evaluating courses and instructors to meet those needs.
Extensive experience directing activities of direct reports; using computer systems, software, and databases for information entry and retrieval; drafting business correspondence.
Professional level knowledge of MS Office.
Currently possess the International Code Council (ICC), Permit Technician Certification or the ability to obtain this certification within the first 12 months of incumbent's date of hire.
