A Brief Overview

A Technician Trainee will gain comprehensive training to become a skilled auto glass technician. Upon successful completion of our training program, you'll earn the Safelite SafeTech certification and develop essential skills for performing glass repairs, replacements, and recalibrations independently. We expect our trainees to embody the Safelite Spirit by bringing a positive attitude and a caring approach to customer service, ensuring timely and high-quality work.

Your Responsibilities

  • Engage in paid learning through hands-on and classroom training, including:
  • Observing and assisting in the installation and repair of auto glass
  • Recalibrating automotive safety systems, troubleshooting, and completing diagnostic testing
  • Providing additional services and products
  • Studying to pass tests for Safelite Technician certification while demonstrating a positive attitude and using learned techniques
  • Safely operating company and customer vehicles, as well as utilizing company-issued tools and chemicals during work
  • Completing other assigned duties and adhering to company policies and standards

  • Competitive weekly pay starting at $20.25/hour, increasing to $24.00/hour after training and certification.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent preferred
  • Valid state-issued driver's license and any other required licenses to operate a company vehicle

Experience Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods, work in tight spaces, and bend and twist.
  • Proficiency in safely and effectively using various hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Professional demeanor and a passion for providing outstanding customer service.
  • Capability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Ability to work with chemicals safely, as per Safelite standards.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate customer needs.
  • Competence in using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibrations and troubleshooting.
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret technical directions in English.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Commitment to maintaining a professional appearance and adhering to company policies.
  • Resilience to perform under pressure, including time constraints and performance metrics.
