Mows and sprays weeds and controls pests on right-of-ways and City properties; grades alleys; operates sander; performs manual labor; flags; operates a variety of equipment to construct, repair and maintain the City's streets, curbs, sidewalks and drainage systems; and performs related work as required. The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform manual work associated with weed control, such as spraying and mowing right-of-ways and other City properties. Individual performs construction, repair and maintenance of the City's streets, curbs, sidewalks, and drainage systems. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Streets Superintendent. An employee in this class may be assigned to one or more specific areas of responsibility, but are expected to be able to perform all duties associated with the weed spray applicator classification. An employee in this class performs the duties of other employees in the Streets Department as required or as assigned by supervisory personnel. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials and employees, contractors, business owners, other government agencies, and the general public. The principal duties of this class are performed in an outdoor environment, which may involve adverse weather conditions and related hazards.
