Summary Statement
Be part of the action and help deliver a fun, safe, and well-organized sports experience for our community! This 9-month, at-will position provides oversight and coordination for multiple sports leagues, including Softball, Basketball, Volleyball, and Pickleball. You'll work closely with officials, complete pre-game preparations, and ensure facilities are ready, safe, and welcoming for league play.

In addition to on-site supervision during games, this role includes administrative responsibilities in an office setting, supporting league operations and coordination. The position offers a flexible schedule of 20-25 hours per week, making it a great opportunity for individuals ages 18 and older to gain leadership experience, build organizational skills, and stay connected to the energy of community sports throughout the season.

Essential Functions

  • Provides oversight of league games to maintain fair play and promote good sportsmanship. Records scores and statistics during games. Coordinates with officials to ensure games begin at scheduled time.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of all participants which includes checking floors and facilities for any safety issues or concerns. Inspects equipment and supplies to ensure they are in good working order and notifies supervisor when items need repair or replacement.
  • Prepares materials such as score sheets and supplies for games, and assists participants with player roster and pre-game assignments. Performs tear-down duties and ensures all equipment is accounted for.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
Requirements

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
  • Experience playing or coaching sports or experience officiating or supervising league programs.
Knowledge of:
  • Specific league play rules and regulations.
Ability to:
  • Interact with coaches, officials, players, and other participants in a professional and courteous manner
  • Enforce league play rules and regulations
  • Keep score and limited statistics
  • display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations
  • communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
  • complete assignments in a timely fashion;
  • understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations
  • maintain prompt and regular attendance
  • perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
  • CPR Certified

Physical Efforts

Working Environment

19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.

4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.

8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.

9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
