Blue Cross of Idaho is seeking a highly skilled Senior Solution Architect to focus on the integration of Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) with other business tools and technologies, as well as the enablement of API consumption of data assets. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in enterprise integration patterns, modern API architecture, and cloud-native solutions, specifically on our Snowflake on AWS data platform. This role requires a strategic thinker who can translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure, efficient architectural designs and provide hands on solution build activities.**Location:** preference for flexible hybrid location (onsite Meridian Idaho campus, and local work-from-home); there may be opportunity for fully remote work within a mutually acceptable location. #LI-Remote; #LI-Hybrid**Key Responsibilities****Integration and Solution Design*** **Design and deliver end-to-end integration architectures** that seamlessly connect the enterprise data platform with various applications, third-party services, and internal tools.* **Develop the strategic roadmap** for enterprise data integration, identifying opportunities for process optimization and new capabilities.* **Evaluate and select appropriate integration patterns and technologies** (e.g., ETL, event-driven, API-based) to meet diverse business needs.* **Conduct discovery workshops** and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to surface requirements and define the integration and API strategy.**API Enablement and Governance*** **Architect, design, and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of APIs** that expose data from the enterprise data platform for both internal and external consumption.* **Define and enforce API standards**, best practices, and security protocols to ensure consistency, reusability, and governance across all data APIs.* **Establish a centralized API catalog** and management platform to streamline discovery and access for API consumers.* **Implement robust API security** using methods such as OAuth and API gateways to protect data and control access.**Technical Leadership and Execution*** **Provide technical leadership and guidance** to development teams, ensuring that API and integration solutions adhere to the defined architecture and standards.* **Create and maintain comprehensive documentation**, including architecture blueprints, integration diagrams, API specifications, and operational runbooks.* **Review technical designs and perform code reviews** to ensure high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.* **Advocate for continuous improvement** and stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in API management and data integration.**Collaboration and Communication*** **Serve as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders**, effectively communicating complex architectural concepts and trade-offs.* **Collaborate closely with the data engineering team** to ensure API development is aligned with the overall data platform strategy and capabilities.* **Work with security, network, and infrastructure teams** to ensure all integration and API solutions are secure, compliant, and performant.**Required Education:** Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience is required (two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college). Certifications such as Snowflake Pro and/or AWS-related are highly preferred.**Required Experience:** 7/+ years' experience in solution architecture to include data architecture or a similar senior technical role. Candidates should have a proven track record of architecting and implementing large-scale integration and API solutions, as well as data engineering and data management experience. Experience should also span:**Technical Skills*** **Expertise in enterprise integration patterns** and hands-on experience with technologies like MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or cloud-native integration services (e.g., AWS AppSync, API Gateway).* **Deep understanding of API architecture principles**, including REST, GraphQL, microservices, and event-driven patterns.* **Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services** beyond basic infrastructure, including serverless computing (Lambda), message queuing (SQS), and streaming (Kinesis).* **Extensive experience with the Snowflake Data Cloud**, including data sharing and governance features.* **Proficiency with DevOps tooling** for CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).* **Experience with API management platforms** such as Apigee, Mulesoft, or similar.**Professional Skills*** Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.* Strong leadership abilities with a focus on mentoring and fostering technical excellence.* Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate business needs into actionable, technical plans.* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range is: $128,646 - $192,969. The position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus (variable depending on company and employee performance). The pay range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, internal equity, geography, business or organizational needs, and alignment with market data.
