Idaho Power located in vibrant Boise, Idaho is looking for an Economic & Community Development Advisor to join our Operations team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. They are responsible for the relationship between Idaho Power and local (city and county) units of government and manages the large load request pipeline to the point of in-service. They develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive the attraction, expansion, and retention of large customers. The advisor manages deadlines in responding to requests for information/proposals and coordinates with internal teams to develop proposals for customers, engineering assessments, cost quotes, and/or construction studies and agreements. They will also play a key role in preparing analyses and delivering presentations, support the development of materials to align internal stakeholders in pursuing a customer mindset, and identify opportunities to proactively anticipate customer needs and become a trusted energy advisor in a highly competitive environment. They will maintain relationships with city and county officials and local economic development professionals to support company initiatives, in addition to furthering local economic and community development goals. They also provide internal and external support for facility permitting, including strategy development and implementation of public involvement and customer education efforts.

A competitive candidate will have knowledge of: Idaho Power business priorities, rules, regulations, and rates; electrical system operation and facilities; understanding of electrical grid and ability to interpret site maps; economic development, community/public relations, and leadership courses or training.
Skills in: strong communication skills, including the ability to present effectively to a wide range of audiences with a diverse understanding of the electrical utility system; effective verbal and written communication to individuals and groups; organization and planning; communicating with various levels of management; public speaking, presentation, and negotiation; basic use of personal computers using Microsoft Office Suite, CLRIS, and current customer information system.

Minimum requirements: education: Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of formal education and experience. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or another related field. Experience: 5 years of experience in economic, business, or community development, governmental affairs, or relationship management, or marketing/communications experience. Preferred: 7 years of experience in sales, business development, marketing, communications, government affairs or another related field. 5 years utility experience including demonstrated competency in utility/energy operations, transmission and distribution systems, and energy efficiency programs. Demonstrated experience in participating in cross-functional and regionally diverse teams to drive strategic initiatives and programs.
Licenses & Certifications: valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position.
Physical Requirements: This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people.
