Job Summary

Web Analyst is responsible for the development of a web analytics program and comprehensive SEO strategy at Boise State University. The role focuses on delivering sophisticated, insightful and actionable data from Boise State's online channels, functioning as an expert in web analytics and SEO, and serving as a web and customer advocate who provides value in the ability to gather, interpret, and recommend data-driven decisions to the campus community.
This position is not eligible for VISA sponsorship and may involve a hybrid work schedule requiring on‑site presence in Boise State.

Department Overview

The Division of Extended Studies expands higher education beyond traditional boundaries, offering online education, community programs, concurrent enrollment, summer sessions, and continuing education. The Marketing and Communications team within the Division focuses on promoting Boise State Online and related programs, leveraging creative, marketing, and content development skills to achieve university goals.

Level Scope

Fully competent professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision and may provide guidance to entry‑level staff. Requires a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Essential Functions

  • Align web and UX projects with the university's product vision and strategic plan.
  • Analyze and improve website effectiveness
    • Ensure compliance with university content policies and best practices.
    • Use Google Analytics and other tools to analyze user behavior, site traffic, and content effectiveness.
    • Assess and improve SEO, empowering site administrators and content authors to optimize content.
    • Design and develop accessible, responsive web pages using university page templates.
    • Support MarCom reporting using Google properties and purchasing linking tools.
  • Contribute to website strategy
    • Lead efforts to utilize analytics, best practices, and UX data to refine web design and navigation.
    • Collaborate with MarCom team and content managers to assess current content and develop new content.
    • Work with site administrators to refine site architecture and navigation.
    • Lead landing‑page strategy using Unbounce to support paid marketing campaigns and increase conversions.
    • Design, develop, deliver, and support web content and design.
    • Improve UX by continuous monitoring of web properties for accuracy, current content, and error-free pages.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on project planning, content, layout, and publication.
  • Elicit requirements and document future‑state processes. Translate needs into specifications, collaborating with development resources and stakeholders.
  • Conduct user experience research and use feedback to improve web content and navigation.
  • Execute quality assurance testing to validate data and functionality.
  • Respond to incidents and service requests via Wrike project management ticketing system.
  • Provide service and support to web users, resolving errors as needed.
  • Maintain supporting communications, forms, and MarCom reports through the university CRM (Slate).
  • Support strategic planning and implementation of new and existing web and CRM features.
  • Collect and analyze ongoing campaign metrics for ROI and performance.
  • Support purchased list communications with data uploads and reporting.
  • Plan and execute usability testing, ensuring accessible media for all users.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Highly analytical, detail oriented, problem solver, multi‑tasker, self‑starter capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Significant knowledge of web analytics and SEO strategies, including Google Analytics.
  • Ability to consolidate large data sets into digestible highlights for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in reviewing, improving, and implementing SEO strategies across university online channels with vendors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 2 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of web analytics, UX optimization or digital marketing experience, preferably in higher education.
  • 2+ years of landing‑page design and optimization.
  • 3+ years managing or optimizing websites in a CMS (Drupal, WordPress, Cascade CMS).
  • 2+ years leading A/B testing or CRO initiatives with measurable results.
  • 2–3 years conducting SEO audits and implementing improvements.
  • 1–2 years improving website accessibility and ensuring WCAG 2.1 compliance.
  • 1+ years working in a CRM (e.g., Slate, Salesforce).

Salary and Benefits

  • Salar Y: $55,057.60 per year
