Position Summary
This role has two core responsibilities: overseeing and managing email security systems within the managed services scope, and developing and supporting proprietary services applications and tools.
Duties & Essential Job Functions
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Proofpoint's email security managed services and best practices.
- Respond to customer requests for rule changes, feature additions, policy updates, and routing configurations.
- Deliver briefings on new product versions, features, and functionality.
- Review, enable, and configure new product features and enhancements.
- Collaborate with Threat Strategy Managers to onboard new customers, defining and owning onboarding acceptance criteria.
- Handle customer escalations and monitor case progress to ensure accuracy and timely completion within SLO guidelines.
- Participate in and manage the team's on‑call rotation, including after‑hours and weekend support.
- Provide operational metrics and optimization recommendations to MTPS management.
- Work alongside seniors to design, build, and maintain applications and tools.
- Write and review new code, find and fix bugs in existing code.
- Continuously learn new programming languages, tools, and technologies, deepening understanding of our codebases and architectures.
- Help diagnose and resolve technical problems, user‑reported issues and vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with other teams to create new opportunities for value creation and efficiency gains within managed services.
Qualifications Required
- Write and review Python code and work with PIP.
- Comfortable working with Linux via terminal, using SSH, Git, etc. General experience with web and email gateways.
- Background in information or network security; experience in corporate networking, technical support, system administration (Windows, Unix/Linux), or network security.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively with team members and clients; excellent time‑management and communication skills.
Preferred
- Write and review JavaScript/TypeScript/React, work with NPM.
- Experience with databases, especially PostgreSQL or Redis.
- Experience with containers (Docker or Kubernetes).
- Working knowledge of AWS.
- Experience with regular expressions.
- Scripting knowledge in Perl, Java, or Bash.
- Vendor certifications in supported products.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, Network+, Security+.

Base Pay Ranges:
SF Bay Area, New York City Metro Area: 96,040 – 150,920 USD
California (excluding SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska: 76,440 – 120,120 USD
All other cities and states: 68,320 – 107,360 USD
