About the Role

Join the WarpStream team, an innovative, Apache Kafka-compatible data streaming platform built on object storage without relying on local disks. As a Senior Engineer, you will engage in various aspects of product development, including enhancing our storage engine in the Agents, optimizing our multi-tenant control plane's scalability, and developing new features like transactions and active-active multi-region clusters. You'll also contribute to our developer console using HTML and JavaScript. You will tackle complex distributed systems challenges at scale and build services that function across prominent cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure. Your role may involve on-call duties.

The WarpStream team operates entirely remotely, with engineers located in various regions including Spain, France, Canada, Ireland, and the USA.

What You Will Do

• Independently manage the execution of intricate technical projects from initiation to completion.
• Design, develop, and operationalize mission-critical backend services that provide significant value to our customers.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues within a complex technical environment involving microservices, containers, and virtualization.
• Ensure services are operationally ready, meeting customer availability and performance SLA commitments.

What You Will Bring

• Over 10 years of experience in designing, building, scaling, and supporting production backend systems, with a solid understanding of software engineering best practices.
• Strong programming and algorithmic skills, with proficiency in languages such as Java, Go, C/C++, or Python.
• A keen interest and enthusiasm for distributed systems and storage solutions.
• Excellent project delivery and communication abilities.
• Experience driving operational excellence for large-scale production services.
• A customer-centric mindset, coupled with a strong sense of teamwork, technical leadership, and mentorship.
