You'll be joining an experienced Mechanical Engineering department which promotes an open and collaborative team culture to develop innovative and market leading molecular imaging systems. Candidates should be comfortable with all aspects of the product life cycle from concept generation through product sustaining. Our team utilizes cutting edge development tools including structural and thermal FEA as well as Agile development principles. Our engineers work closely with in-house and third-party manufacturing to ensure devices are designed for manufacturability and serviceability while balancing cost targets.

This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional looking for the next step in their career. As a Staff Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible to:

  • Lead development of medical imaging systems alongside a cross-functional team made up of both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Define and realize mechanical designs, starting from conceptualization through material selection and dimensional specifications to detailed part and assembly drawings using Siemens NX and Nastran where appropriate.
  • Independently initiate and manage engineering change orders (ECOs) as part of ongoing design improvements.
  • Communicate technical and commercial issues, including working with in-house and third-party manufacturing in a global environment.
  • Recommend new designs and processes or improvements to existing designs and processes to meet functional requirements.

Ideal candidates will have one or more of these attributes:

  • Experienced in structural design (including sheet metal, castings, weldments).
  • Knowledgeable of electronics packaging for EMI/EMC.
  • Experienced with liquid and/or air cooling of electronics.
  • Interested in medical imaging and/or medical technology.
  • Familiar with FDA/ISO design controls.
  • Motivated to learn and develop your technical skills.

Required skills to have for the success of this role:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years of successful experience in related field.
  • 10+ years of structural component design (seismic and other vibration analysis preferred).
  • 10+ years designing in 3D CAD (NX preferred).
  • 10+ years of machine design.
  • Travel for this position is typically to suppliers or business partners and may include international trips. The expectation is less than 5% of your time.
