Location: Remote - Central/West Time Zones are highly preferred

Salary: $120,000 - $140,000

The Controls Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the reliability and performance of OnTrac's automated parcel handling systems. This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and optimizing PLC and WCS programs to ensure system uptime, fault recovery, and throughput efficiency. The Controls Engineer collaborates closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and OEMs to support a resilient and scalable automation environment across the network.

The Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 48 years of experience in industrial controls or automation
  • Proficiency with PLCs (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell), HMIs, SCADA systems, and safety interlocks
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Your Mission in Motion:

  • Support and optimize PLC and WCS systems for conveyors, sorters, and dimensioners
  • Develop and maintain control logic and fault recovery processes
  • Collaborate with OEMs and internal teams on system upgrades, commissioning, and testing
  • Maintain detailed controls documentation including IO lists, schematics, and network diagrams
  • Train site technicians and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards for control systems
  • Assist in system commissioning and integration testing for new automation deployments and retrofits
