Responsibilities

• Lead the produce department and achieve maximum sales and profits
• Implement company and division policies and core values (respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, safety)
• Understand and manage all key components of department operations (merchandising, computer assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, customer service, labor scheduling, expense control)
• Maintain customer relations and store security
• Communicate with employees, customers, and supervision
• Make intelligent decisions quickly and respond to changing priorities
• Supervise salad bar operations and ensure proper pricing and merchandising
• Analyze produce department operations and recommend improvements
• Support all duties assigned by store manager or supervisor

Qualifications

• Minimum: willing to work flexible shift (mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays)
• Experience: produce work experience and general store operations knowledge
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Decision-making and stress-management skills
• Effective leadership and training abilities
• Integrity and honesty in customer and business information
• Ability to work in a high-paced, stressful environment
• Full compliance with required essential functions of the position

Desired Experience

• Produce work experience or similar food preparation work
• Dependability and integrity record
• Customer relations through friendliness and courtesy
• Store security assistance and complaint handling
• Hiring, firing, disciplining, and evaluating all produce department personnel
• Proper indoctrination of all department employees (scales, prices)
• Price-marking training and use of skills in all produce products
• Salad bar operations management
• Schedule planning for full and part-time employees
• Maintain appearance and uniform of department personnel
• Plan, organize, and control produce department activities
• Direct receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of produce products
• Assure adequate stock and supplies through ordering
• Submit required records and reports and use them effectively
• Proper cleaning and waste disposal in all areas
• Analyze continuously all aspects of produce department and make recommendations
• Promote and implement company initiatives and process improvements
• Professional in all interactions and conflict management
• Perform all duties assigned by store manager and/or supervisor
