Legal Assistant, Consumer Protection Division, Office of the Attorney General

Salary: Starting at $30.31/hour, depends on experience

Responsibilities

  • Supports the division chief and two deputy attorneys general with consumer protection and charitable trust cases in state and federal court.
  • Formats and proofreads letters, pleadings, and other documents.
  • Files in iCourt and Pacer.
  • Coordinates office calendars, schedules meetings, and submits attorney travel requests.
  • Communicates with the courts and opposing counsel.
  • Assists with public record requests.
  • Maintains electronic case files, manages incoming mail, and performs other assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of relevant legal and technical experience in a fast-paced legal office.
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication, writing and grammar, editing, telephone, and customer service skills are required.
  • Self-motivated and independent worker willing and able to develop professional relationships with applicable Consumer Protection and OAG staff.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong computer skills and effective use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with Excel, iCourt, Pacer, and document management programs.
