The Medical Lab Scientist 3 is responsible for performing routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Handles complex issues and problems and possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A degree of creativity and latitude is required. Acts as a mentor/trainer/preceptor to all members of team.

Responsibilities

• Test specimens accurately, organized, and prioritized following laboratory procedures and policies to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Collect a variety of specimens as required by section needs with skill and sensitivity to patient needs.
• Ensure specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled, and stored.
• Perform instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
• Provide mentorship & training to others.
• Maintain inventory of supplies.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
• Follow department policy, maintaining all necessary records and documentation.
• Ensure input is accurate and complete.

What You Can Expect

• Five 8?hour shifts 2?10:30?pm.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree.
• Experience: 4 years' experience.
• Certification: Must have one of the following: Blood Banking (ASCP_BB), Chemistry (ASCP_C), Cytogenetics (CYGT), Hematology (ASCP_H), Microbiology (ASCP_M), Molecular Biology (ASCP_MB), Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP_MLS or AMT_MLS), Medical Technologist (ASCP_MT or AMT_MT).
