Senior Payroll Manager

McMillen, Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations for our dynamic engineering and construction company. This role requires expertise in managing complex payroll processes, including international payroll, and compliance with construction industry standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of payroll experience, a strong background in the engineering and construction industry, and proven supervisory skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage all payroll functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing for multi-state domestic and international employees (including Canada).
  2. Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations, including Davis-Bacon Act and other industry-specific requirements.
  3. Prepare and submit multi-state and federal payroll tax returns for each jurisdiction, including accurate reporting of withholdings and tax liabilities.
  4. Supervise and mentor payroll staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
  5. Collaborate with HR, finance, and project teams to address payroll-related matters and ensure seamless integration of payroll systems.
  6. Maintain and update payroll policies and procedures, staying current with industry standards and regulatory changes.
  7. Handle payroll reporting, audits, and reconciliations with accuracy and attention to detail.
  8. Resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  9. Prepare and create Excel ad-hoc payroll reports for various stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  1. 8-10 years of payroll experience.
  2. Strong international payroll experience, particularly in Canadian payroll systems and regulations.
  3. In-depth knowledge of construction industry payroll processes, including prevailing wage laws and Davis-Bacon Act compliance.
  4. Proficiency in payroll systems and software; experience with construction-specific platforms is a plus.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  6. Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  8. Located in or willing to relocate to Boise, ID.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with in-house engineering and construction industry payroll systems.
  2. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification.

Compensation Package:

  1. Pay Range: $91,000 - $113,000
