In the role of Environmental Engineer, you'll count on you to:

  • Perform complex assignments, exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures for environmental remediation projects, including design and implementation.
  • Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed.
  • Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of this position.
  • Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience & Technical Skills

  • 5 years in environmental engineering design (e.g., remediation systems, industrial wastewater, well design, pumps, pipes, ponds).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and GIS.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing multiple projects and teams.
  • Experience with CERCLA remediation, permitting, and regulatory compliance, especially for agricultural clients.
  • Skilled in field investigation and drilling program management, particularly in geologic and hydrogeologic settings.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior staff, including technical oversight and quality control.
  • Coordinate and schedule field teams, especially within the Idaho Resources team.
  • Manage site investigations and remediation projects for state, federal, and private clients.
  • Oversee field data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

Communication & Documentation

  • Prepare reports and proposals, including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
  • Comfortable with client interaction and presentations (in-person and virtual).
  • Collaborate with clients and regulators to develop strategies and recommendations.

Certifications & Preferences

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER and MSHA 40-hour Underground Miner training preferred.
  • Local candidates are preferred.
  • A seller-doer mindset (business development + technical delivery) is a strong asset.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for environmental engineering projects, such as remediation design and implementation.
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to complete tasks.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must.
