This is an opportunity for a technical engineering manager passionate about open source software, Linux, containers, security, and the developer experience, to shape the future of Linux from the smallest systems up to desktops. This challenging role demands a high degree of technical and management skill.

Our mission is to enable everyone to build robust solutions across various fields including IoT, automotive, and aviation using the next-generation secure embedded Linux operating system. We focus on providing reliable and secure device recovery mechanisms to simplify and standardize field operations for heterogeneous appliances.

As an engineering manager, you'll lead a team of talented software developers to design and implement Ubuntu Core system software on various CPU architectures, such as ARM, RISC-V, and x86. You will meet stakeholders, prioritize requests, plan the roadmap, and ensure your team can meet their goals. You will have the chance to influence the team culture, facilitate technical delivery, and work on strategic planning.

  1. Build and lead a distributed team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development.
  2. Contribute directly to your team's goals by demonstrating sound engineering principles.
  3. Support the timely delivery of technical solutions to meet business needs.
  4. Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  5. Promote and develop modern, agile software development practices.
  6. Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
  7. Participate actively as part of the leadership team and collaborate across the organization.
  8. Work remotely with biannual travel for company events.

  7. Experienced in agile development environments.
  8. Hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or related fields.
  9. Experienced with embedded software development.
  10. Proficient in Golang, C/C++, and Shell scripting.
  11. Have a solid understanding of Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.
